Annual EMA Social gathering 2016 just concluded on 29th May 2016 after a 3-day event held at Maxwell Activity Centre Winchester, Hampshire once again with all the Manipuri diaspora from UK and Europe.
Yet again, the children made the event ever so special. Their arts and crafts show was highly appreciable and their fashion show was the highlight of it all. Well done to the talented kids.
Food was great too with all the mouth watering traditional manipuri dishes. “Arangfam committee” needs a special mention as the group worked tirelessly through whatsapp (office hour or not) ensuring the menu goes according to plan, and also big hands to those who cooked and helped clean up. All in all, it was a fun filled, highly enjoyable EMA get together
The gathering started with a BBQ on the evening of 29th May, followed by mouth watering manipuri dishes – Sareng thongba, Rou ataoba thongba, ooti, chagem pomba, khamen kanghau, thambou sinju, bora and other traditional items for lunch the next day prepared by the kitchen committee who worked tirelessly via a whatsapp group day in and day out ensuring everyone is happy. There were also number of activities like tuck of war (rope), football, children’s program etc. A group photo of everyone who came to the gathering was also taken as an EMA tradition.
On the morning of the final day, after having breakfast everyone bid goodbye to each other until the next year gathering in 2017.
